Ajax defender Matthijs De Ligt has revealed that if he leaves the Dutch outfit this summer, he will not choose a club based on financial incentive.
The 18-year-old has impressed in the Eredivisie this summer, which has reportedly attracted interest from numerous clubs.
A recent report in The Mirror claimed that Manchester City are leading the race for the teenager, who has been priced at around £50m by Ajax.
The report adds that Arsenal and Bayern Munich are also interested in De Ligt, who has been dubbed the ‘new Virgil van Dijk’.

According to football.london, Tottenham are also considering a move, and a recent comment from the defender has given some fans confidence that he could pick Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
In quotes reported by The Mirror, De Ligt said:
“I am going to make a decision with my head, not based on money offers. I think some players would be tempted when they get massive offers. But compared to ordinary people I think I earn a huge wage right now, anyway. My next step just has to be right for me when I look at the team and where and how I will live."
Tottenham have one of the more modest wage structures in the Premier League, and would be engulfed by the pay packets being handed out at the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
With De Ligt claiming that he is not motivated by money, then perhaps Spurs will have the edge.
