If you haven’t seen Erik Lamela’s spectacular rabona goal for Tottenham Hotspur against Asteras Tripolis, then you must be living under a rock because ‘Lamela’ it is the most in-trend word on Twitter at the moment.
Well if you’ve just pushed the rock out of the way and looked into the sunlight, then click here to watch the amazing goal and then come back an hour later after it has looped several thousand times because in all honesty it’s extremely difficult to take your eyes off it!
First thing that would come to mind is how is this possible? This has to be one of the best goals ever seen in a competitive game and it would take an insane person to try such a thing.
But the truth is, the 22-year-old has been practicing his rabona in training ever since his days back playing in Argentina. In a River Plate youth game, Lamela instead of sidefooting the ball past an on rushing keeper like a normal footballer – or chip it like Messi – he, well, successfully pulled off a cheeky rabona into the goal.
Is this even better than the one against Asteras Tripolis on Thursday?
