The 22-year-old has proved a revelation since being utilised as a defensive midfielder by Mauricio Pochettino at the start of last season, going on to prove almost invaluable in that role for both club and country.
Indeed, the former Sporting Lisbon youngster started all but one of the Lilywhites’ Premier League fixtures last season as they launched a shock title bid and also missed just 45 minutes of England’s Euro 2016 campaign.
That has lead to widespread transfer interest in Dier according to The Telegraph, with Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti praising the eleven-cap international’s impressive performances at the tournament in France. The German giants were also linked by Mirror Football in June.
But Spurs are now set to hand the versatile youngster an improved contract that will make him one of the club’s top earners on £70k per-week in a bid to fend off interest from the Allianz Arena.
Should Dier see out the duration of the planned five-year deal, that will expire in summer 2021, he’ll earn a whopping £18.2million.
