Portuguese heavyweights Porto remain keen on a shock move to lure Spurs’ most expensive player, Erik Lamela, to the Estadio do Dragao, according to reports from A Bola.
The 2004 Champions League winners were linked with a somewhat surprising swoop for the Argentine earlier this summer, but a deal failed to come to fruition and the ex-Roma man remains at White Hart Lane.
Porto are keen to strengthen between now and the close of the window, and reports claim that Lamela is seen as a good option.
Once likened to Lionel Messi, the 23-year-old’s career has stagnated since his record-breaking £30m move to Tottenham in 2013.
Widely viewed as the natural successor to Gareth Bale, who was sold to Real Madrid during the same window, Lamela has failed to live up to expectations and was overlooked for the club’s season-opening loss to Manchester United on Saturday.
