Reported Tottenham Hotspur target Frenkie de Jong helped the Netherlands secure the draw they needed against Germany on Monday night to reach the Nations League finals next summer, and fans on Twitter were quick to react.

The Mirror reported last week that Spurs have been tracking the talented 21-year-old for months, but that their Premier League rivals Manchester City appear to be in pole position to bring him to England.

The Ajax starlet started in a three-man Dutch midfield against the 2014 world champions on Monday and impressed alongside Georginio Wijnaldum and Marten de Roon, and should he end up arriving in north London he would likely be competing with the likes of Eric Dier and Harry Winks for a spot in the centre of the park.

Fans were quick to take to social media to have their say on de Jong’s display, and while one said "hope Spurs buy him so we can get rid of Dier", and another said he has "class beyond his years".
