Fee agreed for new Tottenham defensive rock

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a £4.3m fee with FC Köln to bring in central defender Kevin Wimmer when the transfer window reopens in the summer, according to reports in the Guardian.

Wimmer has started 24 of Köln’s league games this year and impressed manager Mauricio Pochettino with his performances in the Bundesliga.

The defender is currently has enjoying a breakthrough season at the club having moved to FC Köln from Austrian club Linz in 2012.

Tottenham are believed to have signed Wimmer for the composure, physical and aerial ability that he can offer the Spurs’ back line.

The 22-year-old centre back has been one of the stars of his current side’s Bundesliga campaign, and may yet help them avoid relegation to Germany’s second tier.

Wimmer who stands at 6ft 2in tall fits the mould of the type of player the Premier League side are after as he’s got time on his side – at 22 – and the hunger to progress in his career.
