It has been a year of ups and downs at White Hart Lane. While Andre Villas-Boas’ inaugural campaign as Tottenham boss started well enough, the Lilywhites’ typical end of season burnout could scupper their chances of making it into the Champions League, should they miss out on a place in the Premier League‘s top four, with stiff competition from local and divisional rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
At one point, Spurs looked a dead cert, with Gareth Bale firing on all cylinders and the squad playing delightful football. But now, with just a handful of games remaining, it would take a brave man to bet on AVB’s men to make it this year, especially if you’re a believer that history repeats itself.
