Fulham are planning talks with Ryan Sessegnon regarding a new contract amidst continued speculation linking the highly-rated winger with Tottenham Hotspur, The Evening Standard reports.

What's the word?

With Ryan Sessegnon's stock continuing to rise and the teenager having entered the final two years of his current deal, newly-promoted Fulham are planning to open contract negotiations with the 18-year-old to secure his future.

Tottenham hold a long-term interest in the winger, with The Evening Standard stating they have launched enquiries in each of the last two transfer windows, and reports of the Cottagers looking to tie-up Sessegnon for the long-term provide a blow to Mauricio Pochettino.

Though Sessegnon has been left out of Fulham's starting XI for each of the last two Premier League matches, he still remains as arguably the club's most important asset despite a spending spree in the summer seeing Slavisla Jokanovic splash over £100m on new recruits.

Should Spurs go all out?

With Sessegnon being one of the finest young talents in English football and Pochettino boasting an impressive record of bringing out the best of young players, links between the 18-year-old and Spurs appear to be a match made in heaven.

Fulham have made it clear securing a deal will not be easy though and Tottenham also have to balance the financial implications of their impending move to their new stadium, with concerns that they may struggle to retain their top players in a situation that would echo what arch-rivals Arsenal experienced a decade ago.

While signing Sessegnon would prove costly, it would also send a major statement of intent to the rest of the Premier League and would also provide Spurs with a player who boasts tremendous sell-on value for the future.

On top of that, Sessegnon has the capability of emulating former Tottenham hero Gareth Bale if they manage to secure his services.
