Gareth Bale is set to sit out Tottenham’s final pre season friendly with Espanyol, as talks over a world record move to Real Madrid continue, according to the Independent.
The summer’s latest transfer saga is no closer to being resolved, with Tottenham adamant they do not want to sell their star man, and Real Madrid seemingly willing to make a world record offer for the Welshman’s services.
24-year-old Bale is set to miss Saturday’s friendly at White Hart Lane, with the club citing a glute injury as the reason why.
In the meantime, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez hopes to meet with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy in Miami, in the hope of thrashing out a deal for the winger.
It is understood Bale has no desire to hand in an official transfer request at White Hart Lane, and is simply hoping the two clubs can come to an agreement having made it clear he wants to make the switch to Spain.
Whilst Madrid players past and present have made it their duty to talk up Bale in recent weeks, star man Cristiano Ronaldo was more casual with his praise for the PFA Player of the year.
Ronaldo said: “I’m not the right person to say if you [Bale] deserve that money or if it is a good deal or not. I am happy here and the players I have beside me are great – I’m not going to speak about the other players, sorry.”
One player who is set to feature in Saturday’s friendly is Tottenham’s new club record signing Roberto Soldado, who recently completed his £26million switch from Valencia.
