Mousa Dembele’s departure from Tottenham Hotspur has been confirmed.
The central midfielder has joined Chinese Super League club Guangzhou R&F, bringing to a close a total of seven years in north London.
Dembele, a Belgium international with 82 caps, joined the club from Fulham in 2012 and quickly became a key member of the club’s first-team.
He made a total of 250 appearances, scoring 10 goals and, though he failed to win a trophy during his time in north London, he is highly thought of by the club’s fans.
Dembele has struggled for fitness in recent seasons, worn down by a number of injuries, and missed 12 Premier League games prior to his transfer.
Spurs are currently third in the Premier League, but, nevertheless, Dembele’s exit has been received with sadness by supporters.
Indeed, a number of tributes have been paid to the former AZ Alkmaar midfielder, with an outpouring of emotion visible on Twitter.
We have reached agreement with Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F for the transfer of @mousadembele, subject to international clearance.

One of the most gifted players to have worn our shirt in the modern era of Spurs.
Such a shame that have injuries have restricted him from going on to have a longer career at Spurs, wish him nothing but the best for the future, a really special player and honour to watch him. ??

I’m gutted to see Dembele go. In his prime he was one of my favourite ever Spurs players to watch. I’m not sure anyone outside of the club will ever appreciate just how good he was. ?

Will absolutely miss Dembele. One of the best footballers I've ever had the privilege of seeing live. Strong as a bull, yet graceful as if he was gliding across the glass. Good luck Mousa! #COYS #THFC

CheekySport’s Joel claims Spurs badly need to invest in January after not having “the balls” to beat Arsenal. Check out his uncensored opinion in the video below…
I don’t think there’s a @SpursOfficial fan anywhere that isn’t sad to see @mousadembele go! A massive part of Spurs going from “best of the rest” to serious challengers. Just about the complete midfielder. Thanks for everything Moussa “OH MOUSSA DEMBELE” #COYS
