Hamann reveals Bayern has spoken to Tottenham Hotspur boss Pochettino

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has revealed some news that will not best please Tottenham Hotspur fans.

The retired footballer has written in a column for Sky Germany that Bayern Munich have made contact with Pochettino regarding the manager’s job at the Allianz Arena.

“I know Bayern have been in contact with Pochettino and that he was an option – and might still be. Some say the Bayern coach should be a German, it might be one area of importance, but not the only one. Even Pep [Guardiola] was not perfect. It is about picking the best coach possible. For me, that man is Pochettino.”

In October, the Bavarians sacked Carlo Ancelotti and replaced him with Jupp Heynckes, who came out of retirement to take the role, on a temporary basis.

This summer, Bayern are expected to recruit a permanent manager and Hamann has suggested that Pochettino could be a target.

The Argentine has transformed the North London outfit over the last few years and has shaped an attack-minded young team.

With the club due to move into their new state-of-the-art stadium for next season, fans will be desperate for their key figure to stay put.

Meanwhile, the supporters have sent a message to the manager, urging him to play Lucas Moura in this weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final against Swansea City.
