Harry Kane’s 2017 will take some beating.
The 24-year-old’s netted a hat-trick – his second treble in four days – to break Alan Shearer’s record for the most Premier League goals in a calendar year.
His first-half strike to opening the scoring in a 5-2 win at Wembley was the record breaker as he netted his 37th goal in 2017, and then he followed that up with two more to extend his record to 39 league goals this year.
It also takes him ahead of Lionel Messi for goals scored in 2017 for both club and country, with his total haul now standing at 56 goals in just 52 games – the most in Europe’s top five leagues.
His achievement is absolutely incredible and regardless of who you support, even Arsenal, you have to take your hat off to the striker.
And the man himself took to Twitter not long after the full-time whistle to send a message to his 1.4m followers. He didn’t say anything, though, it was just a picture of him holding the match ball, his Man of the Match trophy and his team mates all around him.
His tweet, with 39 football emojis, can be seen below…
