HYS: Should Erik Lamela start vs Brighton?

As we approach the sixth round of fixtures since the last international break in mid-November, rotation is inevitable at this point of the season. And while that may weaken some starting Xis around the Premier League, it nonetheless gives chances to players who find themselves on the fringes of the first team squad for varying reasons.

Of course, that can be a good thing and a bad thing – some will take the opportunities that come their way, and others will prove they’re not up to the challenge. In some instances though, it provides chances for players who through no fault of their own have ended some way down the pecking order, such as Tottenham Hotspur’s Erik Lamela.

The 23-cap Argentina international has endured a lengthy injury layoff, which rather disappointingly began just as he’d won over doubting supporters following a rather modest start to his career in English football.

But the attacking midfielder is back on the mend and after featuring as a substitute against Leicester, Watford and Stoke, he looks ready to make a first start in 13 months when Brighton travel to Wembley on Wednesday night.

So, Tottenham fans, would you issue Lamela his first start of the season against the Seagulls? Let us know by voting below…
