Should Tottenham risk resting Harry Kane against Barcelona with Spurs’ leading man starting all but one match so far this season?

It would be a big risk for Tottenham’s chances of progressing in the Champions League if they were to sit their main striker out for the biggest game of the competition so far.

But as Barcelona’s defence has shifted five goals in the last three games, with the Catalans failing to win any of those, now may be the perfect time to play them and maybe, the perfect time to play without Kane.

Bringing the pace of Lucas Moura to the central striker role rather than playing the Brazilian on the wing will allow Spurs to rest their main forward for future games and keep some miles off the clock.

Yet, having lost their opening European game to Inter Milan, Kane would add firepower to the Spurs attacking line-up in a game they must win to form some momentum in the Group Stage and avoid slipping to a possible six-point gap between themselves and top spot.

Besides, with Cardiff up next in the Premier League, Kane - who Transfermarkt value at £135million - can always be rested then if Mauricio Pochettino has any fitness concerns.
