Tottenham Hotspur may need to strengthen their midfield this summer as the future of Mousa Dembele remains uncertain.

According to The Mirror, the North London outfit are willing to listen to offers for the Belgian international, despite the fact that he has been an influential figure in Mauricio Pochettino's team this season.

Tottenham fans have been vocal in their praise for Dembele, but it seems unlikely that the 30-year-old will be gracing the pitch at the club's new stadium in the 2018-19 campaign.

With that in mind, it is time to look at potential alternatives, and one name that has been doing the rounds in the media is Bryan Cristante.

The 23-year-old currently plies his trade at Serie A side Atalanta, where he is based for the season on loan from Benfica.

The midfielder has made 30 appearances in Italy's top flight and he has found the back of the net eight occasions in that period.

Despite his young age, Cristante has won two Primeira Liga titles, as well as the Portuguese League Cup twice.

The Mirror claims that the midfielder is one of the players being targeted by the North London outfit, while Barcelona's Andre Gomes is also an option.

Cristante has shown versatility this season in that he can play in an attacking midfield role as well as more centrally.

While playing further up the field, the Italian has contributed with five goes, and from the middle of the park he has scored six.

With all that being said, do you think that Tottenham should make a move for Cristante this summer?
