Regardless of Arsenal’s tribulations during his time there, Mesut Ozil is still undoubtedly one of the top playmakers in the world. In fact, only one player in Europe’s top five leagues has recorded more key passes than the German World Cup winner this season – Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
With that in mind, we have a curious question for Tottenham fans. Would your local rivals’ talismanic midfielder be able to earn down a place in your starting XI? In theory, Ozil is a more proven player than all of Tottenham’s attacking midfield cast and would therefore improve Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
But on the other hand, the aggression, pace and dynamism Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Heung-min Son all provide off the ball is so important to the way Tottenham play. Likewise, they’re all younger than Ozil and they’ve all produced good form over the last few seasons as well.
So, Tottenham supporters, would you axe one of those attacking midfielders to make room for Ozil – who Transfermarkt value at £45million – or is he below the standard required to get into the starting XI? Let us know by voting below…
