As reported by The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing PSV winger Steven Bergwijn this January.
Spurs are finding the demands of competing in Europe and the English Premier League concurrently a real challenge this season and Mauricio Pochettino needs a strong January transfer window to bring in quality that can provide back-up for his stretched first team squad.
One player that could make an impact is young winger Steven Bergwijn, currently playing for PSV.
That’s according to The Sun, who say Mauricio Pochettino is considering making a January move for the 20-year-old, competing with Serie A side Torino.
A Netherlands U21 international, Bergwijn is showing significant potential as a right winger, having burst onto the PSV scene as a regular last season.
While not a guaranteed starter for the Eredivisie league leaders, he has still pitched in with two goals and three assists this season, helping them open up a five point lead at the top of the table.
Mauricio Pochettino has proven previously he can take young players’ game to the next level and moving to Tottenham would surely help the winger realise his potential.
Unlikely to be an immediate starter, he would at least provide depth to the attacking areas and perhaps offer a different, more direct option in the final third.
