Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has claimed in a Q&A session with Sky Sports viewers that Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to re-sign Gareth Bale.

What's the word?

Since the Wales international touched down in the sunny climes of the Spanish capital, he has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

The 28-year-old signed for Real Madrid from Spurs in 2013 and has gone on to win 10 trophies, including three Champions League crowns.

Tottenham and Manchester United have regularly appeared in the gossip columns in relation to Bale's future, but Balague has revealed in a Q&A session that a return to North London is unlikely to happen.

"I feel Bale considers his time at Spurs as something that is better not to go back to. Imagine if you were Bale, at the biggest club in the World, winning leagues and Club World Cups and Champions League. Imagine Spurs, despite the exciting future that lies ahead, approached you... what would you do?"

Are we surprised?

No, not really.

It is common every now and again for players to be linked to their former clubs, particularly in this case as Tottenham are on the rise.

However, as Balague says, there is no real reason for the Welshman to return to Spurs given that he has gone on to bigger and better things at the Bernabeu.

From Tottenham's perspective, there is no denying that Bale is a quality player, but his recent injury record is a concern.

On top of that, the North London outfit are shaping their own fresh chapter in history.

Bale has moved on, and Tottenham should too.
