Tottenham Hotspur will move for Ajax youngster David Neres if they fail to land Malcom from Bordeaux, according to Goal.com.

What's the story?

Malcom has been at the centre of speculation involving both Tottenham and their North London rivals Arsenal.

The 20-year-old's performances for Bordeaux this season has seemingly attracted interest from numerous big-name clubs.

There is another 20-year-old, though, that has captured the attention, but he plies his trade in the Eredivisie for Ajax.

According to Goal.com, Neres has been chosen as Spurs' Plan B if the club cannot negotiate a deal for Malcom.

The report claims that the Brazilian would come at a much cheaper price than his fellow countryman, and talks between Tottenham and Ajax could begin in the coming days.

Who is a better option?

Not much can separate the two youngsters as both play predominantly on the right side of midfield or attack.

Malcom has scored seven goals in 21 Ligue 1 appearances for Bordeaux, while Neres has netted eight times in 17 Eredivisie outings for Ajax.

The latter has been more of a provider, though, as he has created nine assists as opposed to Malcom's five.

Based on the figures, signing Neres could turn out to be a better choice for Tottenham.

It makes financial sense for the North London outfit to move for a more affordable option.

Plus, the player will know that there is a route to the first team under manager Mauricio Pochettino.
