According to reports in The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have been boosted in their bid to sign £50m-rated Fulham starlet Ryan Sessegnon with the Cottagers actively seeking to sign a new left-back during the January transfer window.

What's the word, then?

Well, The Sun reported in October that Spurs were keen to sign the £50m-rated 17-year-old, and the latest reports from the same source suggest that a deal could be possible in the New Year.

Mauricio Pochettino may well be looking to sign a new left-sided player with Danny Rose's future in doubt, and The Sun says the Championship outfit have stepped up their bid to sign a new left-back to suggest the teenager could leave in the New Year.

Despite only turning 17 in May, the England U19 international has already made 53 first-team appearances for the west London outfit and he continues to impress.

How has Sessegnon done this season?

Considering his tender years, his performances and maturity have been admirable.

The 17-year-old has scored four goals and provided a further two assists in 23 appearances in all competitions for Fulham, and he netted a hat-trick in his side's incredible 5-4 win against Sheffield United last month, with two of those goals fine finishes with his weaker right foot.

Sessegnon has been used as both a left-back and a left winger this season, and his versatility is likely to have impressed Spurs and Pochettino.

Would he be a good signing for Tottenham?

He certainly would be.

The teenager looks to have all of the attributes and traits to go to the very top, and the fact that he has played so many matches at such a young age shows the quality that he has.

If Rose was to go then the 17-year-old would likely be back-up to Ben Davies at first, but Pochettino has shown that he isn't afraid to blood a youngster if he is good enough and it probably wouldn’t be long until Sessegnon was given his chance to shine.

Will they get him?

Well, The Sun says that Manchester United are also keen on the starlet, but Pochettino's success with young players could see Sessegnon opt to join the north London outfit over the Red Devils.
