Roma are apparently going to try and pull out all of the stops to ensure Erik Lamela remains a Serie A player with Roma next season and prevent Tottenham further bolstering their squad, according to the Daily Star.
The North London Premier League squad have already completed three deals valuing roughly £50million, however are still being linked to acquiring further players.
It is believed that Roma are preparing to offer a contract which would keep Lamela in Italy until 2018, and Director Walter Sabatini will discuss terms believed to be in the region of €2.5m per season.
This is in comparison to Lamela’s current deal, which is valued at half that amount, but is not set to expire until 2016.
Spurs have been rumoured to be willing to splash £30million in order to bring one of Europe’s hottest talents to White Hart Lane, due to the large amount of competition currently surfacing for the signature of this player. However there is sure to be a long negotiation period with the Giallorossi as they will be unwilling to sell unless an offer comes in which is too good to resist.
With Gareth Bale set to leave Tottenham in order to play Champions League football with Real Madrid, and the world record transfer fee being touted as the figure to acquire his services, Tottenham will certainly be able to spend big to get whoever they desire before the new season starts.
