Tottenham Hotspur are bracing for their first transfer window under a new coach in Jose Mourinho.

And having overseen five wins and three losses so far in his latest tenure, it's clear some adjustments to his squad via the transfer window wouldn't go amiss next month.

With that in mind, Football FanCast has outlined two transfer priorities the new Spurs boss needs to address in January...

Deal with Christian Eriksen

By this point, the discussion with Eriksen is old news already.

The Danish midfielder's contract is due to expire in the summer of 2020 and we are still in the dark with regards to his future at the club. The playmaker has been linked with an exit before and since there are still no definitive updates on his situation, it's certainly something Mourinho will have to deal with come January one way or the other.

Considering his contract status, selling is probably the best option but more important is simply determining what the future holds for him - whether he leaves straight away, in the summer or signs a new contract.

This situation has lingered over the club for far too long.

Acquire a new left-back

It would be wrong to label Spurs' defence as past its sell-by date but all of its members have been at the club for a good while now and it needs an injection of fresh blood somewhere.

As things stand, left-back is probably the most obvious place to bring in someone new. Jose Mourinho has resorted to playing Jan Vertonghen there in recent games, which says a lot about his opinions on Danny Rose - who has already revealed the club want him to leave - while Ben Davies has been sidelined since the end of November.

Perhaps this issue can be put on the backburner until the end of the season but if the right option comes along in January - someone who can offer attacking threat but also keep things sturdy in typical Mourinho style - Spurs should be quick to snap him up.
