Tottenham Hotspur have had a £23m (€30m) offer for Jackson Martinez turned down by Atletico Madrid, according to reports from Marca.
Martinez was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League during the summer, but Atletico matched the €35million release clause in his contract and secured his transfer from Porto.
However, the Colombia international has struggled for regular playing time at the Vicente Calderon, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann and even Fernando Torres ahead of him in the pecking order.
His frustrations have thus alerted Spurs, who are looking to sign a striker to ease the burden on Harry Kane with the Lilywhites submitting a £23m bid.
But the La Liga giants are hoping to keep the 29-year-old, whom they believe will have the opportunity to prove himself if given more time at the club.
Last season for Porto Martinez was in incredible form, making 42 appearances in all competitions while scoring 32 goals.
