Erik Lamela has been the forgotten man at Tottenham Hotspur during his injury woe, but he was a major talking point after Tuesday night’s Premier League game against Leicester City.
The night overall was a disappointing one for the club as they were beaten 2-1 at the King Power Stadium.
Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were the scorers for the hosts, with the former netting inside the first 13 minutes and his teammate doubling the Foxes’ lead before half time.
Lamela made his first appearance for the North London outfit in over a year following a lengthy spell on the sidelines, which involved two operations on his hips.
The Argentine made an instant impact as with just his third touch after coming off the bench he set up Harry Kane’s goal.
Despite the England international finding the back of the net, Tottenham were unable to launch a comeback.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side have now failed to win their last three league matches, recording two defeats and a draw.
While the fans were frustrated at the result, they found positives in Lamela’s return.
On a more positive note, it was great to see Lamela back tonight. He looked sharp and could add just the bit of flair we need when back to full fitness. #COYS
