Tottenham Hotspur fans have been badgering the club for the better part of a year to find out the extent of Erik Lamela’s injury woes.
The Argentine was ruled out of action last October and spent the next 12 months trying to recover.
The attack-minded player had consultations overseas and ended up going under the knife numerous times on the left and right hip.
After a lengthy spell, Tottenham fans finally got their wish as Lamela made his first competitive appearance of the season.
In the 78th minute of Tuesday night’s Premier League game against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, the former Roma star came on as a substitute.
In just his third touch of the match, Lamela set up Harry Kane’s goal, which ended up being a consolation as the team lost 2-1 on the night.
The club are now winless in their last three top-flight outings, but the 25-year-old’s return was a silver lining.
After the match, Lamela sent a message to the fans on Twitter.
Disappointing result but happy to be back ⚽❤️ #COYS
