According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham are keen on signing Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka. The link comes after Football FanCast exclusively revealed that Mousa Dembele was looking to leave White Hart Lane this summer.
Belgian international midfielder Dembele was angered by Daniel Levy failing to agree a transfer fee with Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan, after the 31-year-old had already effectively agreed personal terms.
Dembele is now entering the final year of his contract at Spurs and the Lilywhites would be forced to lose the 80-cap international on a free transfer if they don’t sell before the window closes.
However, the Mirror has now reported that Spurs are interested in signing defensive midfielder Lobotka, who looks like he could be a long-term Dembele replacement.
The 23-year-old is a full Slovakian international and the Mirror reports that he has a £31m release clause in his contract with the Spanish side and is looking for a move away.
With Dembele clearly favouring a move away from Tottenham this summer, Levy would be wise to grant him his move to China by backing down slightly on his valuation of the man who is valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt.
The money from this could then be used to pay the asking price for Lobotka, giving Mauricio Pochettino his first new signing of the summer after the Argentine boss requested that Levy be brave in this transfer window before signing a new five-year deal at the North London club.
