Tottenham Hotspur face Fulham this weekend without Harry Kane.

The England international is out until March after suffering ligament damage in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, and Fernando Llorente is surely the man to replace him.

On the chalkboard

Llorente is yet to be given a proper chance in the Premier League this season - the 33-year-old is yet to play over 10 minutes in a single top-flight game in 2018-19.

But Llorente has shown that, when he is given a chance, he can thrive. He came on as a substitute in the 2-1 Champions League win over PSV Eindhoven and laid on an excellent assist as Spurs came back into the game, cushioning a high forward ball for Kane to smash in.

He also netted a hat-trick in the 7-0 FA Cup win over Tranmere Rovers, and scored in the 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over West Ham.

With a game against Fulham - a team that Spurs are expected to beat even without Kane - coming up, this is the perfect chance for Mauricio Pochettino to show his faith in the Spaniard and potentially reap the rewards.

Steel over silk

Pochettino's only other option in the absence of Kane is to deploy a false nine. Dele Alli is the most logical solution, while Erik Lamela offers a potential alternative.

However, the pair do not offer the physical prowess of Llorente, who is also excellent in the air.

Against a newly-promoted defence, Llorente has the potential to hit the Premier League goal trail and start building the momentum needed to challenge Kane even when he returns to full fitness.

Momentum, of course, is key, as Spurs are set to face Chelsea in the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final next week.
