Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to pile the praise on Giovani Lo Celso for his performance against Manchester City on Sunday.

The 22-cap Argentina international - who recently signed in a deal worth £27.2m after initially arriving on loan back in the summer - was making his fifth Premier League start of the campaign, and went on to deliver a fine showing against Pep Guardiola's side.

Lo Celso had 59 touches of the ball - the most of any Tottenham player - and kept things ticking along nicely with an energetic display which helped the north Londoners record a 2-0 win over the reigning Premier League champions.

The 23-year-old made one key pass and completed one dribble, although it was his defensive industry which caught the eye more as he registered two tackles, two clearances and an interceptions.

Lo Celso also found a target with five of his attempted six long balls, helping Spurs into fifth with 37 points to their name.

Let's see how the Tottenham fans on Twitter reacted to his display...

To kick off the reaction, Joe said that Lo Celso is "easily my favourite Spurs player" at the moment, before calling him the "best Argentine of all time" - Lionel Messi, anybody?

Elsewhere, Steve Pike said that the former Paris Saint-Germain man "just gets better and better".

Elsewhere, @BenHotspur said that Lo Celso "looks composed on the ball against top opposition" before saying that Tottenham have "found a little gem" - it's hard to argue with this point.

Then, Jono added "what a player we've signed" and also said the midfielder was "absolutely superb" on Sunday evening.

Lastly, Chris White and Tel also waxed lyrical over the former Real Betis player.
