Tottenham Hotspur were perhaps a tad fortunate to escape from the first leg of their Champions League semi-final clash against Ajax with a glimmer of hope of reaching the final of the competition.
David Neres hit the post for the visitors in the second half but the score remained 1-0 and Mauricio Pochettino’s men are still alive ahead of their trip to the Amsterdam Arena.
The manner in which the hosts were outplayed at times, however, will be giving some fans cause for concern.
But Lucas Moura has refused to get sucked into feeling downbeat about his side’s chances of progressing, as he expressed in a passionate Instagram post in the aftermath of proceedings on Tuesday night.
Moura’s rallying message was clearly designed to keep spirits high amongst his following supporters, expressing his belief that Tottenham still have a genuine chance of progressing.
The Brazil international has already made a huge impact in a handful of high-profile fixtures this season and he may need to produce the goods once again to help his side progress.
It’s a tall order for the north London outfit but while the players still harbour hope there is a genuine chance of winning in Amsterdam and booking a place in Madrid.
