Bale has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu for the last few months, but Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has put all transfers on hold until the club have a new manager.
“Madrid always want the best. Tottenham is a very amicable club, but first we must see who our new coach will be and after that we will begin to arrange our new squad,” Perez told Spanish newspaper Marca.
Madrid aren’t afraid to spend big on top players. The club spent £37million on Luis Figo, £46million for Zinedine Zidane and £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo.
Spurs are hoping to keep hold of Bale for one more season, as they look to finally get back into the Champions League, while Madrid believe the signing of Bale could be enough for them to win the European tournament.
But Real Madrid must wait until they find a new manager, with PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti the overwhelming favourite to succeed Jose Mourinho.
Should Bale join Madrid? Should Spurs take the money?
