Tottenham striker Harry Kane is ready to move to Real Madrid but needs to seal a deal quickly, Lothar Matthaus told The Sun.

What's the word?

England's shining light at the World Cup, guiding the Three Lions to the semi-finals and winning the golden boot in the process, Harry Kane has remained the gem in Tottenham's crown so far this season after scoring five goals in nine Premier League matches.

He continues to attract plaudits from across Europe, with Real Madrid regularly stated to be suitors for the 25-year-old, and Lothar Matthuas has advised the striker he will need to make a move soon if he is to switch the Premier League for La Liga.

Writing for The Sunhe said Kane is ready to make an impact at the Santiago Bernabeu but time is running out for him to seal a lucrative switch to join the European champions.

What was said?

"I know he loves Spurs. You can tell by the way he talks about the club. He might want to stay there for his whole career, breaking all the scoring records, being there for the first 10 years of the new stadium, being a Tottenham legend.

"It would have to be something special for him to leave the club. But if it’s going to happen, it will have to be soon. He’s 25 now. If he does not go in the next two years, by the time he is 27, he will never leave.

"If he did, Real are the only club that would be right for him. Real shine brighter than any other club in the world."

Is he right?

With Real Madrid struggling for form in the initial few months of their first campaign without Cristiano Ronaldo, Tottenham fans will be fearful that Los Blancos could go all-out in January to snatch Kane from their clutches.

An exit when the window opens, however, is unlikely and a transfer would have more chance of taking place at the end of the season - particularly if Tottenham fail to secure a top-four spot in the Premier League and do not win any honours.

It increases the pressure upon Spurs in a crucial transitional period for the club and they would love to have Kane lead the line for the first few years at their new stadium. However, time is running out for Spurs to show they are capable of regularly fighting the best in Europe.
