Monaco eye swoop for Tottenham star

Hugo Lloris (Tottenham)Monaco are planning an audacious move for Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, according to reports from The Express.

The Big spending Ligue 1 side are keen to draft in a solid stopper as they look to build a squad capable of fighting for domestic and European honours.

As one of France’s best keepers, Lloris has caught their eye, with drafting in home grown talent believed to be attractive to the Mediterranean outfit.

The 26-year-old has developed into on of the top goalkeepers in the Premier League since his 2012 arrival at White Hart Lane from Lyon, and is believed to be vital to Andre Villas-Boas’ playing style.

His levels of anticipation and raw pace make him the ideal ‘sweeper keeper’, a role the Portuguese coach likes to employ due to favouring a high defensive line.

But, AVB now faces a fight to keep hold of Lloris, with Monaco possessing the financial muscle to make a very tempting offer.

The newly promoted side splashed out over £100m on players over the summer, luring the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho – all of whom were wanted by some of Europe’s top clubs – to the Stade Louis II.

It remains unclear as to whether Lloris will be keen to move on, but Monaco are likely to offer a lucrative deal to do so.
