It was a disappointing day at the office for Tottenham this weekend.

Spurs would have been hoping for a victory against Watford, who are currently hovering just above the relegation places in the Premier League. However, they could only come away with a 0-0 draw, and that was only after Paulo Gazzaniga saved Troy Deeney's penalty.

This, of course, was the second league game in a row in which Jose Mourinho was unable to include Harry Kane in his starting line-up. The England international - and Spurs captain - is currently out of the side due to injury, and is expected to be out for a number of months. The especially bad news for the Portuguese boss is that his team have failed to hit the back of the net in both matches.

The big fat Tottenham quiz of 2019 - how much do you remember about the last year at Spurs?

In the clash against Watford on Saturday afternoon, it was Lucas Moura who took up the centre-forward role. And whilst the Brazil international was by no means absolutely atrocious, he was unable to have any real influence on proceedings either.

During the match, he managed just one shot on target, with another effort blocked. He did manage to complete two of the three dribbles he attempted - showing his skills are best suited to a wide role - but he landed just 76% of his passes. He also managed three key passes and won five of the eight ground duels he contested too, which is something that will likely have pleased his boss.

He certainly did enough in this match to convince Mourinho that he is still warranting of a place in his squad, but not as the main striker. And that poses a huge dilemma for the ex-Chelsea boss. After Kane, 17-year-old Troy Parrott - who has played just two senior matches for the north London outfit this term - is the only other option. Spurs are desperately short of attacking personnel, and that should mean they search for some reinforcements in the market.

There have been rumours that Daniel Levy wants to sign 26-year-old Paco Alcacer on loan from Borussia Dortmund. The former Barcelona man has started just nine games so far this term in Germany, but he already has seven goals to his name. Last term, he scored 19 goals in 32 matches in all competitions, and he actually started just 15 times. He averaged a goal every 67 minutes in the Bundesliga in the 2018/2019 campaign, seemingly taking his opportunities whenever they came.

He is a proven goalscorer, and that is exactly what Mourinho needs right now. He cannot afford to play the next three months with Lucas as his striker - otherwise his tenure with the club may be a lot shorter than he hopes. Currently valued at £37.8m by Transfermarkt, a loan does make more sense - although it remains to be seen if Dortmund would accept such an offer - but either way, he would be a much-needed addition to the squad this month.

Meanwhile, Tottenham fans react to their reported interest in this Premier League ace.
