Tottenham midfielder Benjamin Stambouli insists Tottenham should be regarded as Premier League title contenders this season, according to Metro.
The 25-year-old arrived at White Hart Lane from Montpellier in the summer, and was part of the Montpellier side that won Ligue 1 against all the odds in 2012.
And Stambouli is confident Spurs have what it takes to replicate his old club’s acheivements this season, despite winning just five of their opening 11 games and are currently 15 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
He said: “We can do it.
“Tottenham are maybe not Manchester City or Chelsea if you see the money, but Montpellier were very small.
“We have talent in the squad. We have some players who have all the mental and technical qualities but now we have to think what we really want.”
New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has come under pressure early on in his career at White Hart Lane, with many fans disappointed that there has been no improvement to the side since last season under Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood.
