Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has admitted that he has not been at his best this season.

Trippier was one of England's stars on their run to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and would have entered the 2018-19 Premier League campaign bursting with confidence.

The 28-year-old has struggled to show his best form at club level this term, however, which has led to a lot of criticism from the Spurs supporters.

The right-back has made 29 appearances in all competitions this season, but has contributed just one goal and four assists for Mauricio Pochettino's team.

Trippier was included in the latest England squad, though, and the former Manchester City youngster has insisted that he will learn from the mistakes that he has made.

The Telegraph quotes Trippier as saying:

“I could have done a lot better this season. I've picked up a lot of injuries and there's been games when I've looked back and watched, and thought 'I could have done this better', 'I could have done that better'.

“It's all about learning, but I admit I could have done a lot better. I am here now and I need to try to impress to try and start for England and try and do the best I can with every opportunity I get between now and the end of the season.”

Tottenham have seen their title bid falter over the last few weeks, having lost three of their last four Premier League matches.
