Reports claim Juventus are close to signing Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey, and Tottenham should look to take advantage by making Emre Can an offer he can’t refuse.

What's the word?

According to Dean Jones, Ramsey will join Juventus when his Arsenal contract expires this summer.

The Welsh international is expected to sign a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A giants, ensuring he will finish the season in North London before moving to Turin.

This move is really bad news for ex-Liverpool man Can, who will be pushed further down the pecking order at Juventus having started just six league games so far this season.

The versatile German international left the Premier League hoping to achieve bigger and better things, but a combination of injuries and poor form have derailed his chances in Turin, and a return to England may be his best and only option.

Why do they need him?

Well, Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko have performed superbly together this season, but the Lilywhites are very light in the midfield department. Victor Wanyama cannot stay fit, Mousa Dembele is expected to leave the club and Eric Dier has not been at his best so far this season.

Can’s ability to play multiple positions both in defence and midfield would give Mauricio Pochettino the chance to rotate his key men as his side continue to fight in four different competitions.

Is he good enough?

Can is best as a holding midfielder, where he can use his physicality, work rate and technical prowess to quite simply overpower opposing midfielders.

The 24 year-old’s biggest enemy at Anfield was consistency, as he would often follow a dominant display with an almost invisible performance, but Pochettino could be the man to fix this.

If Pochettino and Daniel Levy are on the hunt for a player who will instantly improve the squad, providing depth and quality in various positions, they could do a lot worse than moving for Can once Ramsey’s move goes through.
