PL rivals expect Spurs transfer bid, resigned to losing long-term Poch target

According to reports from Mirror Football, Southampton are braced for a transfer bid from Tottenham Hotspur for long-term target Victor Wanyama.

The Kenyan international has established himself as one of the top enforcers in the Premier League since moving to St. Mary’s from Celtic in summer 2013, boasting a physically imposing 6 foot 2 frame.

But the defensive midfielder has been linked with a White Hart Lane move practically ever since former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino took over in north London two summers ago.

The Lilywhites reportedly saw a £20million bid rejected by Southampton last summer – as reported by Goal – and now look set to revive their interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Mirror Football claim the south coast outfit have practically accepted Wanyama’s departure already, with the 24-year-old about to enter the final twelve months of his contract.

There is a five-year contract on the table but Wanyama appears unlikely to sign it, meaning Southampton have to sell or risk losing him for free at the end of next season.
