Entering the season as PFA Young Player of the Year, Dele Alli has had a lot of pressure put upon his young shoulders and the England international has so far struggled to cope with the expectations.
Enduring indifferent form so far, Alli has struggled to build upon his superb performances from last season and has been criticised by many. Struggling to find composure in front of goal, Mauricio Pochettino has given the 20-year-old starlet a piece of advice.
Quoted by The Daily Express, Pochettino said:
“I am happy with him, but he is still very young. This is his second season in the Premier League. Many things happened last season, sometimes he needs to breathe a little bit. He can’t keep his level up in every game.”
“Sometimes players have problems, some have illness. They are not at their best because they are human. I am very happy with Dele, only it’s been some periods good and not so good.”
Missing just one Premier League game this season, the 1-1 draw with Arsenal last month, Alli has been a crucial part of the Lilywhites side. However, they’re not quite achieving what they aspired to do before the campaign started and need to improve in the New Year.
