Tottenham Hotspur’s biggest Premier League rival has always been North London neighbours Arsenal, but dislike for another English outfit has been growing throughout the season.
The competition between Harry Kane and Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah for the Golden Boot award has filtered into the fanbase.
Heading into the final game of the season, Salah leads the way as top scorer with 31 goals, but Kane is hot on his heels with 28.
Last month, the Liverpool star appeared to mock his counterpart on Twitter after Tottenham successfully had Christian Eriksen’s goal against Stoke City awarded to Kane due to the ball brushing the striker’s shoulder en route to the back of the net.
Spurs have once again ended a season without silverware, but Liverpool have the opportunity to claim their sixth European title as they prepare to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev on May 26.
It is no big surprise that Tottenham fans will not be rooting for the Reds, but interestingly, manager Mauricio Pochettino has no desire to see the English club succeed either.
While speaking to Spanish radio station El Transistor, the Argentine coach said:
“I think Real Madrid are the favourites to win the Champions League final and I want them to win because Liverpool are our rivals in the Premier League.”
The fans certainly agreed.
