Former England and Southampton attacker Matt Le Tissier has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane is currently ahead of Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kane has scored 33 times in 34 appearances for Tottenham this season, and recently netted his 100th Premier League goal for the London club.

The 24-year-old scored his seventh Champions League goal of the campaign against Juventus on Tuesday night, meanwhile, as Spurs came from two goals behind to draw 2-2.

Ronaldo, on the other hand, has 23 goals in 28 matches in all competitions this season, although he has out-scored Kane nine to seven in the European Cup.

Despite Ronaldo's incredible form over a long period, Le Tissier has said that he would currently place Kane above the Portuguese, who has won the Ballon d'Or on five occasions.

Le Tissier told Sky Sports:

"Right now, on this season's form, I would take Harry Kane. Ronaldo has done it over a longer period of time and there is many a season you would pick Cristiano over him.

"But this season, Harry has stepped it up another level. He has been brilliant for the last three or four years but this season he has taken it up a notch."

Kane will lead England's attack at the 2018 World Cup this summer.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, will again be the main man for a Portugal side that will be looking to win their first major trophy since triumphing at Euro 2016.
