Tottenham Hotspur are in real danger of dropping out of the top four in the Premier League following a poor run of form, and lots of Spurs fans have reacted to a thread and article on popular club forum The Fighting Cock, titled "Questioning Pochettino".

What's the situation, then?

Well, the north London outfit play their first match in their brilliant new home on Wednesday night when they host Crystal Palace, but even on such a positive occasion some supporters are not happy with their manager.

That isn't too surprising in some ways seeing as they look set to go another season without winning a trophy unless they succeed in the Champions League, and the fact that they have taken just one point from the last 15 available and seen Arsenal move above them in the league standings.

However, in other ways it is slightly unexpected that some of the Tottenham faithful are having the conversation now on the dawn of a move into a stadium which could lead to a huge new era for the club.

What have they been saying?

Well, some have certainly suggested that question marks should be raised should Spurs fail to secure a top-four finish, which is hardly surprising as it would show that they are clearly going backwards compared to recent seasons.

Another individual certainly made an interesting point when he said: "Poch has lost direction in how we play and started to look a bit of a tinker man", while another added:

That is certainly true in some cases given the chopping and changing of formations in particular, and you have to wonder whether he should just stick to the 4-2-3-1 system that has served the team so well before instead of trying to shoe-horn Davinson Sanchez, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld into the same starting XI.

What's the verdict

Tottenham need Champions League football every season to continue the amazing progression they have made under Pochettino, and perhaps the South American needs to go back to basics to sort the side's issues out.

Even if they do miss out, there is no way his future should be in doubt, and he deserves a summer where he can bring in a couple of top-class signings to go again next term.
