Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is unlikely to move for Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as he is 'scared' of Daniel Levy, according to AS via SportWitness.

What's the word?

Mauricio Pochettino's impressive displays at Tottenham have led to plenty of interest in his services and Real Madrid are consistently named as potential suitors for the former Espanyol boss, with links intensifying amidst Los Blancos' woeful start to the season.

Julen Lopetegui's time in the Santiago Bernabeu looks set to come to a close imminently and that will leave Real Madrid in the hunt for a replacement. However, according to AS via SportWitnessFlorentino Perez 'does not dare' to move for the Spurs boss.

Still scarred by the battle to secure Gareth Bale five years ago, Perez does not want to jeopardise his relationship with Daniel Levy - who has established himself as a shrewd negotiator in recent years.

Will he stay?

While the stance from Real Madrid is positive from a Tottenham perspective, it does not mean that Pochettino will remain in North London for the long-term as Spurs could find themselves helpless if he decides he wants to walk.

Tottenham are on the brink of a major transition as they eagerly await their move to a new stadium and the club could be financially restricted after completing the switch, which may lead to frustrations on Pochettino's behalf.

The former Southampton boss is also approaching his five-year anniversary at the club and may feel it is time to seek a new challenge.
