Tottenham Hotspur youngster Reo Griffiths provided some excitement in an otherwise gloomy day as he scored twice in a 4-2 defeat against Arsenal Under-18s.
The 16-year-old gave Spurs the lead and was a constant thorn in the Gunners’ side during the first half. He added another in the second half but was unable to help his side stop an Arsenal onslaught.
Griffiths was following up on a superb midweek performance, where he bagged another brace against CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Youth League.
While he still has a way to go before he’s playing senior football, Griffiths will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Harry Kane and other academy players who have appeared in the first team this season.
Mauricio Pochettino has gained a reputation for working with Spurs’ young talent since his arrival, helping to bring through Ryan Mason and Harry Kane in recent years.
Youngsters Josh Onomah, Harry Winks, Anton Walkes and Marcus Edwards have also featured for the first team this year.
