Following an outstanding pre-season for Tottenham Hotspur and with continued doubts over the future of midfielder Mousa Dembele before the respective European and worldwide transfer windows slammed shut, it seemed as though Luke Amos could have a big part to play for the club this season.

The 21-year-old shone and didn't look out of place against quality opposition like AS Roma during the summer, and his hopes were boosted even further when he was named in the 18-man squad for the trip to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on the opening day of the Premier League season.

While he came on for the final couple of minutes on Tyneside to make his top flight debut for Spurs, he hasn't been involved on matchday since then – even when the side went through a three-match losing spell for the first time in Pochettino's reign before they beat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at the weekend.

Even though they picked up that victory, the likes of Eric Dier and Dembele still look far from their best right now – whether that is down to their involvement at the 2018 World Cup remains unclear – Amos still hasn't had a look in, and if that continues to be the case then he will surely seek a loan exit during the January transfer window in order to get some regular minutes and continue his development.

We asked Tottenham fans to vote on our poll to see whether they believe the youngster should be starting ahead of Dier, Dembele or both players, and 54% believe he should be in the XI ahead of the former but not the latter – as you can see from the results below.

The poll results suggest that Spurs supporters are far from fond of the England international, and they would prefer to see a partnership of Amos and Dembele before the Belgian inevitably departs either in the New Year or next summer.
