According to results from our recent poll, the majority of Spurs fans think that Hugo Lloris’ deputy, Paulo Gazzaniga, will eventually take the gloves from the Frenchman on a permanent basis.
World Cup winner Lloris has had minimal competition for the number 1 shirt at White Hart Lane since his break-through into the starting XI but, thanks to former Southampton man Gazzaniga, he will have to start looking over his shoulder.
The Argentine kept a clean sheet against London rivals Chelsea in Tuesday night’s League Cup clash – his fourth in eight appearances this season – and was awarded man of the match by Spurs fans.
Considering that Lloris is now 32, Spurs are surely starting to think about who they can get as the 108-cap international’s long-term replacement – Mauricio Pochettino may look no further than Gazzaniga.
