Tottenham fans have been discussing the future of Mousa Dembele, but is Pochettino making a mistake by letting him leave?

Mousa Dembele is looking likely to follow Toby Alderweireld out the exit door in North London this summer, as the veteran midfielder has just 12 months left on his Tottenham contract.

Dembele, who turns 31 this year, rarely ranks highly in the stats columns, but his influence on this young Spurs side cannot be measured in goals or assists.

The tough tackling midfielder can glide past players like they’re not even there, and while his forward passing can sometimes leave something to be desired, he is the integral cog in linking defence and attack for Pochettino’s side.

Fans hated the rumours that Joao Mario could join from Inter Milan as part of a swap deal, although they were quite fond of the possibility of Ivan Perisic being the makeweight instead.

Either way, losing Dembele is going to leave a gaping hole in the Spurs midfield, and they will probably need to sign at least two central midfield players this summer.

Fans are split on the exit links, but the majority think it’s a mistake to let the Belgian go, as just 32 per cent said they should cash in this summer.
