After three consecutive top three finishes in the Premier League, Tottenham fans may be forgiven for thinking their best signings this summer will be the new long-term contracts penned by both Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane.

Despite these new deals, fans of the North London club will be hoping that there is some transfer action before the window shuts at 5pm on August 9, two days before the first game of the new season.

With the clubs around Spurs spending big in the last couple of transfer windows, Daniel Levy will have to back Poch with the funds needed to compete for the top four again.

Here's who the Spurs fans that answered our poll want their club to sign this summer...

3. André Gomes

Andre Gomes in action for Barcelona

Barca signed Gomes from Valencia for £29.3m in the summer of 2016 after the central midfielder had helped Portugal to win the European Championship. However, Gomes has found life at the Camp Nou difficult and started just six La Liga matches last season.

Barcelona based newspaper Sport recently reported that the 24-year-old's preferred destination is his former club Valencia, but with the two clubs apart in their valuations it could give Spurs the chance to swoop.

2. Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale celebrates scoring for Real Madrid

Bale endured a frustrating campaign this season, starting just 20 La Liga matches and suffering every footballers' worst nightmare - being booed by your own fans. However, the Welshman made a statement to everyone at Madrid in the Champions League final when he came off the bench to score two (including 'that' overhead kick) and won Los Blancos their 13th European Cup.

The 28-year-old joined Madrid from Spurs for a then world record fee of £85m. There surely can't be a single Tottenham fan who wouldn't want to see their former star back at the club.

1. Matthijs de Ligt

Matthijs de Ligt in action for Ajax

Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the 18-year-old has already made 62 appearances for his boyhood club Ajax and even has 7 caps for the senior Dutch national side.

At 6ft2, the centre-back is a threat from set pieces and as with all those who graduate from the Ajax academy, he is comfortable on the ball and has an impressive range of passing.

With his wealth of experience at such a young age, De Ligt would be a perfect signing for the future of Tottenham Hotspur.
