Tottenham Hotspur’s decade-long wait for a trophy continues following Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have taken steps over the last few seasons to become serious challengers for honours.

In the last two Premier League campaigns, the club finished third and then second, but they are yet to go all the way.

After getting knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus at the last-16 stage, the FA Cup became Tottenham’s only chance of taking home silverware this season.

Against United at Wembley, Dele Alli struck the first blow by scoring in the 11th minute, but after failing to make the most of their dominance, Alexis Sanchez and Ander Herrera scored to send Jose Mourinho’s side into the final.

Alli has had his critics this season, even among the Tottenham supporters, but he gave a frank assessment of the match.

On Twitter, the England international expressed his disappointment in the North London club falling at another hurdle.

Tottenham fans commented on the tweet with messages of support, while their rivals could not help but mock.
