Tottenham continued their fantastic form with a momentous win over Inter Milan on Wednesday, and Moussa Sissoko once again proved he is Mauricio Pochettino’s most important midfielder.

Christian Eriksen’s second half goal was enough to give Tottenham all three points in Wednesday’s crucial clash against Inter, but the performance of Sissoko was the real highlight.

Tottenham fans were dreading entering this season with an ageing and underperforming midfield, but Sissoko has now emerged as the perfect all-rounder in the middle of the park.

Pochettino has clearly always appreciated Sissoko, as the 29 year-old has racked up nearly 100 appearances for the club, and his impact in big games is now absolutely crucial.

The 55-cap Frenchman was absolutely dominant against Chelsea, and it’s no surprise that he didn’t play when Liverpool romped through a non-existent Tottenham midfield at Wembley.

He was at his very best once again on Wednesday, racking up three interceptions, two clearances, one block and three fouls. His destructive play in the middle of the park was a huge part of keeping Mauro Icardi quiet.

His driving runs forward were also crucial to getting the side on the front foot, completing two dribbles, two key passes and 90 per cent of his overall passes.

Sissoko was once the most heavily-criticised player at the club, but the once-controversial £30m signing is now absolutely crucial to stopping the big teams.

With Mousa Dembele expected to leave the club at the end of the season, fans will be desperate for a big money replacement, but they may just have him already.

So, Tottenham fans, how impressed are you by Sissoko? Does he need to start every big game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
