One of the stand-out stories of the summer was the protracted saga regarding Moussa Sissoko’s exit from relegated Newcastle United, with the French midfielder eventually sealing a transfer to join Tottenham Hotspur.
No stranger to the back pages for his comments, with many picking up on the fact he regularly flirted with Arsenal before moving to their North London rivals, Sissoko has been at it again as he rubbished links suggesting he would join Everton.
The Toffees were stated as Spurs’ main rivals for Sissoko’s signature at the back-end of the summer but the player himself stated there was no chance of him moving to Merseyside…
Moussa Sissoko: “When I saw on the TV or in the news that I was supposed to sign for Everton. All of that was total rubbish.” pic.twitter.com/0v3O3zAWPI

Calling Everton a small club compared to Tottenham will certainly not get him many fans in Merseyside but you can see why he made the call he did, with Spurs currently pushing for the Premier League title and advancement in the Champions League whilst Everton’s objective is to land a Europa League spot next year.
Unable to secure a regular starting spot at White Hart Lane this season, and yet to secure a goal or an assist, Sissoko would be advised to put his head down and focus on his football rather than making headlines.
